"When you want him to let go, take hold of the object with one hand and say "Out!"

How to Make Friends for your Dog

When you take your dog visiting, keep him on leash. He may be clean at home but he will be tempted to misbehave in strange places.
Don't let your male dog lift his leg on shrubbery or ever-green trees. Exercise your female where there is long grass. The acid in dog urine kills growing plants.

When you take your dog on the street, if he barks at people or other dogs, cuff his nose or give him a shaking. Tell him "No!" Don't let him dirty sidewalks or run wildly at the end of the leash.

When you take your puppy riding, car rules are the same as for young people:
* No climbing back and forth from one seat to an-other.
* No hanging out the windows. Little noise.

If the dog will not stay put, tie him or hold the leash so he cannot jump around.
For the dog that barks at people or dogs when he is in the car, carry a fly swatter or a small rolled magazine and threaten him. He will know what it's for!

When you travel with your dog, keep him off hotel and motel beds unless you cover the bed with his blanket. Don't use towels and washcloths to clean up after your dog. Don't feed him without first putting down newspapers.

If you have not trained your dog to stay alone, don't leave him by himself where there are close neighbors. Keep your dog off taxi seats and public benches. Obey the "No dogs allowed" signs.

Follow these rules and your dog will make friends wherever he goes.
